February 2019 Grants

At the Foundation's first trustee meeting of 2019, 24 single-year and 16 multi-year grants were approved, totalling over $1.56 million to support high-impact community work in urban and rural communities across Oregon.




Arts

Boom Arts -- $10,000 over 1 year to support 2019 youth programming and performances by diverse artists in the Portland area

Original Practice Shakespeare Festival -- $5,000 over 1 year to support operations and artistic programs for audiences in Multnomah County

Pacific Northwest College of Art -- $65,000 over 2 years to launch a low-residency MFA in creative writing and deepen the integration of diversity, equity, and inclusion work across the college

Portland Actors Conservatory -- $20,000 over 1 year to support operations and artistic programs for audiences in Portland

Portland Symphonic Choir -- $10,000 over 1 year to support the implementation of a new leadership model and artistic programs in Portland

Portland Taiko -- $12,250 over 1 year to support operations and artistic programs for audiences in Portland

Rogue Valley Chorale Association -- $10,000 over 1 year to collaborate with the Burns Paiute Tribe to deliver cultural and artistic programs to diverse audiences in Medford and Burns

Rogue World Music -- $7,500 over 1 year to support operations and artistic programs for audiences in Ashland through a challenge match

World Stage Theatre -- $60,000 over 3 years to support operations and culturally-specific arts and culture programs for diverse youth and adult audiences in East Multnomah County

Children's Center -- $20,000 over 1 year to implement a trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy program for children suffering from child abuse or neglect and their families in Clackamas County

Friends of the Children-Portland -- $70,000 over 2 years to launch a pre-apprenticeship training and apprenticeship placement program for teens of color in Multnomah County

Girls Build -- $80,000 over 2 years to build staff capacity to strengthen operations and programs engaging young women statewide through the construction trades

Harper's Playground -- $20,000 over 1 year to support operations and programs building highly accessible parks and playgrounds in the Portland area

HomePlate Youth Services -- $20,000 over 2 years to deepen diversity, equity, and inclusion lens to improve programs for youth of color and LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness in Washington County

Kinship House -- $15,000 over 1 year to support Child Parent Psychotherapy training and certification for clinical staff working with young foster and adopted children and their adult caregivers in the Portland area

Northwest Outward Bound School -- $25,000 over 1 year to collaborate with the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs to develop a culturally-responsive outdoor recreation and workforce development program serving Native American youth in rural Jefferson County

Oregon CASA Network -- $40,000 over 1 year to develop, strengthen, and institutionalize diversity, equity, and inclusion practices and processes across CASA programs statewide

Parenting Now! -- $45,000 over 2 years to support operations and parenting education programs for low-income families in Eugene

Parrott Creek Child and Family Services -- $20,000 over 2 years to deepen and formalize family engagement services across programs serving young men in the juvenile justice system primarily in Clackamas County

Urban Nature Partners PDX -- $15,000 over 1 year to support operations and capacity building for outdoor mentoring and leadership programs serving youth of color in Portland

Beyond These Walls -- $7,500 over 1 year to support operations and programs in support of LGBTQ prisoners statewide

Center for Homeless Research, Inc. -- $50,000 over 1 year to launch a new initiative to mobilize public support to address homelessness in Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas Counties

Clackamas Service Center -- $40,000 over 2 years to build capacity to strengthen anti-hunger programs serving homeless Latinx, Russian, Vietnamese, and Chinese communities in Clackamas County

Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Southern Oregon -- $15,000 over 1 year to expand financial literacy and debt reduction programming for low-income individuals and families in rural Southern Oregon communities

Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon -- $150,000 over 1 year to present the 2019 Collins Lecture, support operations, and provide a challenge match to engage faith communities statewide in service to low-income youth, adults, and families

Family and Community Together -- $30,000 over 2 years to strengthen parent-focused training, referral, and supports for families with physical and developmental disabilities statewide, through a challenge match

Forward Together -- $30,000 over 1 year to support operations and programs deepening civic participation and leadership skills of women of color in Multnomah County

HAVEN From Domestic Violence -- $148,000 over 2 years to collaborate with Battered Persons Advocacy to expand services in health care settings for low-income survivors of intimate partner violence in rural and frontier communities statewide

Japanese Ancestral Society of Portland -- $12,000 over 2 years to support operations and culturally-specific programs serving Japanese and Asian seniors in Multnomah County

Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon -- $30,000 over 1 year to support outreach to expand access to SNAP and school meals for low-income children and families statewide

Seed to Table Oregon -- $35,000 over 2 years to support a part-time education coordinator position to expand food security programs serving low-income communities, including Latinx and Native American residents in Central Oregon
